“You Rang?”
"You Rang?" was written by legendary keyboardist George Whitty and also features Ric Fierabracci on bass.
Best known for his keyboard work with the Brecker Brothers and David Sanborn, George Whitty is a musician/composer/producer/engineer currently living in Los Angeles. He's produced three Grammy Award winning CDs (most recently Randy Brecker's 34th and Lex). He has played and recorded with artists such as Dave Matthews and Carlos Santana (Supernatural), Michael and Randy Brecker (4 years on the road, 7 CDs), Chaka Khan (The Woman I Am), plus Celine Dion, Richard Bona, George Benson, Grover Washington, Jr., and dozens of other top artists.

Dave has teamed up with longtime collaborators Gary Meek (sax/keys) and Tom Kennedy (bass), plus guitarist Paul Pesco (who also appear on the DWB's Multiplicity album), to release the single, "Get To It." The play-alongs for keys, sax and guitar and have TWO different song mixes. Version one is the mix with your instrument removed. Version two is the same mix, but without ANY pre-recorded solos in BOTH solo sections. This allows you to play your own extended solo no matter what instrument you play!
The 'minus Tenor 1' version has the rest of the sax section playing, so you can play along as if in the section, but with the entire solo section open for the sax. No keyboard solo! See below!

A Natural Evolution: How to Develop Technique
Produced by Carl Fischer Publishing on DVD and VHS, Dave Weckl's first of three in the series "A Natural Evolution" concentrates on explaining Dave's "natural" approach to the drums. In his very approachable way, with easy to understand language and careful demonstrations using a drum pad and the drum set, Dave explains his new concepts of stick grip/balance, wrist technique, and the rebound approach for both hands and feet, tying it all in with the application of live performances by the Dave Weckl Band (featuring Jay Oliver, Tom Kennedy, Buzz Feiten, and Brandon Fields). A Natural Evolution:
How to develop Your Own Sound
In this very different video, the first of its kind really, Dave explains and demonstrates all aspects of developing your own sound.
Beginning with how to get a great acoustic sound, Dave walks you through his approach to tuning the kit. He then adds the mics, explaining the various types and their functions, and guides you in suggested selection and placement. Next, he shows the mixing console and explains how frequencies, equalization and phase cancellation can generally affect the sound of the drums and music. He also briefly discusses the use of dynamic processors, such as noise gates, compressors, and reverbs. All of the explanation is clearly demonstrated with visual graphs and audio reinforcement.
This is the most complete sound reinforcement instruction ever developed for percussionists. Of course, great performances by The Dave Weckl Band appear throughout.

Included are some great solos featuring Dave and Walfredo's unique drumset playing, integrating Latin percussion on the drumkit. Walfredo Reyes Sr. is one of the most innovative drummers/percussionists out there, and has been for a very long time, starting many years ago in his homeland of Cuba).

Working it Out:
Latin Percussion I
Walfredo Reyes Sr. is one of the most innovative drummers/percussionists on the scene today, and has been for a very long time, starting many years ago in his homeland of Cuba. Dave decided to team up with him and produce two videos that address drummers and percussionists working together.
A very in depth study of rhythms from different lands, and how the two instruments can work together, both videos are highly recommended for instructional and musical entertainment value. Many great live performances from a group Dave put together with Otmaro Ruiz (keys), John Pena (bass), and Dave and Walfredo especially for this video.
The Next Step
This is really the continuation of Dave's first video, "Back to Basics," as they were both shot at the same time. "The Next Step" gives ideas of what to practice for time keeping, grooves and fills, and a great foundational exercise to develop hand and feet ideas and coordination.
There are also continued performances of material from "Contemporary Drummer + One."

In this classic instructional video (his first one, produced in 1988), Dave offers invaluable insights into the fundamentals of drumming technique.
Topics covered include hand and foot technique, practice routines, and drum kit set-up and approach.
Included are several tunes from the play-along package, "Contemporary Drummer One." It is an excellent overview of drum skills for any level of experience.
DVD special features include bonus video performances featuring Dave and Walfredo Reyes Sr., guest performances by Steve Smith and Chad Smith, a complete Dave Weckl catalog preview, printable educational materials utilizing DVD-ROM, and Internet connectivity.
Contemporary Drummer +1
An incredible Audio/Book/Charts play-along package, the first of its kind on this level, produced by Dave and Jay Oliver in 1988, features an all-star band including: Dave, Jay Oliver, Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, John Patitucci and Steve Lukather. Even Sheryl Crow sings a great song of Jay's, showing her great vocal capabilities way back then.
The package was conceived and designed for the drummer to help prepare for a real studio situation. A studio chart is included for each of the nine songs, plus a detailed book in which Dave describes his grooves, fills, and his analysis of each chart.
In-depth transcriptions are also part of this now historic and very challenging package.
