To the Stars
brought the Chick Corea Elektric Band back into the recording
studio for the first time since the mid-'90s. For this latest album,
twelve-time Grammy winner Chick Corea, on keyboard and synthesizers,
reunited with the original members of the band: bassist John Patitucci,
drummer Dave Weckl, guitarist Frank Gambale, and saxophonist Eric
Marienthal.
The concept record is a multi-part sonic journey that Elektric Band
fans new and old can appreciate. The record is filled with signature
moments of unpredictable syncopations, blazing solos, and complex
underlying concepts.

Released in 1988, Chick
Corea said of recording this album: "I compose in various ways - I
never compose at the computer as it's too slow. I got really used to
using the pencil (2B lead - .7) on score paper - it goes swiftly for
me that way.
Of this record, he said "I
very often work out ideas by improvising things at the piano -
sometimes I dream melodies - like on 'Eye Of The Beholder' that theme
was a dream."

1985 saw the very first
recording of the Chick Corea Elektric Band.
This record set a very
high bar for electric jazz - never to be approached in terms of
uniqueness and influence upon a very special genre.
